eSIMs
Once you have set up one or more Data Pools in your Maya Mobile for Business account, you can create eSIMs to assign to your users. If you have not yet set up a Data Pool, see: Managing Data Pools & Data Usage
Managing eSIMs
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is equivalent to a digital SIM card, which can be downloaded over-the-air and installed on a phone that is manufactured with an on-board eSIM chip. In almost every way, an eSIM functions the same way as a physical SIM card, except there is no physical card required to install the SIM. Like a physical SIM card, the eSIM contains all the information needed to authenticate a user on a network and allow access to data services.
Creating an eSIM
To add a new eSIM to your Maya Mobile for Business account, follow the steps below.
- Navigate to the eSIMs page under the Mobile Data section.
- Click the Create eSIM button.
- Select the following options:
- Assigned User: The user who will use the eSIM on their mobile device.
- Start Date: The first day that data will be available (UTC).
- End Date: The day that service will be disabled. The eSIM will be automatically disconnected from the network regardless of any other setting.
- Data Pools: Regions where the eSIM is allowed to connect to the network and consume data.
- Traffic Policy: A data usage limit that applies to the individual eSIM.
- Tag: For grouping or sorting eSIMs, visible in your account only.
- Click Create eSIM to confirm the configuration.
For more information about the different Traffic Policies available and their effects, see: Using eSIM Traffic Policies
Installing an eSIM
Once the configuration is submitted, the eSIM will be immediately provisioned to your account. You can then select the eSIM from the eSIMs page.
On the individual eSIM page, navigate to the Activation tab to find the eSIM installation details. The eSIM can be installed on your user's mobile device in one of two ways:
- Scan the QR Code
- Input the Manual Activation Code
Instructions for both activation methods will be shown in the Activation section.
For help installing an eSIM, please see the eSIM Quick Start Guide: How to Activate an eSIM or our guide for Activate an eSIM with Manual Activation Code.
Editing an eSIM
After the eSIM is created, you can update the Start Date, End Date, and Traffic Policy by clicking Settings at the top of the individual eSIM page.
Editing an eSIM's Data Pools
To update the Data Pools that the eSIM is assigned to, follow the steps below.
Adding eSIM to a Data Pool
On the individual eSIM page, click + Add to Data Pool in the Data Pools section. Select the Data Pool where you would like to allow roaming data for the eSIM, and click Update eSIM.
Removing eSIM from a Data Pool
On the individual eSIM page, click Remove in the Data Pools section next to the Data Pool where you would like to remove access for the eSIM, and click Confirm on the confirmation dialog.
Assigning Users
While not strictly required, we highly recommend adding Users to your account and assigning each eSIM to the correct user in order to easily review and manage data plan assignments and data usage.
Reassigning an eSIM to another User
If an eSIM has not yet been installed and activated on the end-user device, you can Reassign the eSIM to a different User in your account. For more information, see: Reassigning an eSIM to another User
Suspending and Reactivating an eSIM
If for some reason you need to immediately block an eSIM's network access, you can do so with the Suspend and Reactivate functions on the eSIM page. For more information, see: Suspending and Reactivating an eSIM
Removing an eSIM
If you are no longer using an eSIM in your account and would like to remove it from your Business Dashboard, you can Remove the eSIM. For more information, see: Removing an eSIM
